Overview CR Fletcher is partnering with one of Syracuse's best employers, seeking to add multiple Eligibility Specialists to their team. We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about helping those in our community to join the team. This role is crucial in determining eligibility for a variety of programs administered locally. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in investigative work determining eligibility for any type of benefit. Responsibilities
  • Review applications, forms, and data to determine eligibility for benefits
  • Meet with clients to assist as they work through the process of applying for benefits
  • Review budgets, determine necessary changes in benefits, analyze associated reports
  • Work with community partners, attorneys, etc. to best serve clients
  • Coordinate with and refer clients to various agencies within the community to ensure clients get needed services
  • Provide superb customer service to assist those inquiring regarding their eligibility status and benefits
  • Request additional information or verification of income/resources when appropriate
  • Review budgets and recommend emergency options
  • Verify information and ensure accuracy in documentation
  • Navigate multiple computer software programs simultaneously and efficiently
  • Work closely with interpreters to assist those where English is their second language. Client base is diverse, to include those who speak English, Spanish, Arabic, etc.
  • Build rapport with clients to become a trusted advocate on their behalf
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of requirements, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Document all interactions and maintain accurate records in the office system
  • Identify any discrepancies or issues related to eligibility and resolve them promptly
  • Make referrals to other departments/agencies as needed
Experience
  • 2+ years previous experience in an investigative role, such as investigating claims for health benefits, unemployment benefits, or other income-based benefits
  • Prior experience supporting economically disadvantaged individuals
  • Strong understanding of following investigative processes
  • Proficient in using office software and electronic record systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Salary: $25.00-25.75/hr
